James Rd 40
Some properties just seem to be a natural place for whitetails to hang out. Here's a square 40 acre parcel, fully wooded, creek crossing through, that adjoins neighboring farm lands. Yep, the deer spend the day resting and wandering about in all the heavy bedding cover found on this 40, then long about dinner time they ease on out into the cornfield next door. Yep, thinking I'd be set up right between the bedding and the feed.
There are also some openings scattered within the bedding areas. Would think they would be great spots for tower stands and small food plots. The east and north sides of the 40 are a bit more of a forested area, mostly poplars, maples, and some of those big ol' cottonwoods. I think those spots are a natural transition area, where the deer hold up waiting for dark to hit those farm lands. If you enjoy grouse and woodcock hunting those thick brushy bedding areas should be a great location to try your luck.
Property looks to have both dry and wet areas depending on the season and the weather. Found some grown over access trails leading back into the property. A little work with a brush hog should create a nice travel network. The road this property is located on is only a mile in length, so not alot of neighbors. Another nice benefit is the power that runs along the road up front. See this property as a bit of a diamond in the rough, with lots of potential for someone to create there favorite hunting spot.
